HELP! Birth Certificates

BluePenguin8 · 22/01/2007 11:51

I've lost my birth certificate and I need to send off for a passport asap, how do I go about getting a new birth certificate and how much does it cost?
I also need a full certificate for my son as apparantly the passport form needs his certificate to show his parents details??

Thanks

Your local registry office should be able to sort you out with a few days notice and a couple of quid.

contact the registrars office where you registered when you were born - and the one for your son.

it costs around £5 - £10 - you must state "full"

they may offer a postal service.

good point, it has to be where you were born

I have ordered dh's birth cert online, try www.gro.gov.uk - the general register office.

you can do it online but they charge you double/triple. its about £20 i think. i know it was subatantially more expensiver than getting a relative to pick it up for me and post it.
