That's lovely !
He'll love the effort that you both put into the cake - I am sure.
We all need a bit of TLC and appreciation and TIME is the best way of showing that IMO!

Twiglett I thought I was doing well to be able to make an easy-peasy, shove it all in a bowl, apple cake at the weekend (with a baby 3 weeks older than yours and dh at home) How on earth did you manage to make cake and do icing - have you given one or both of your kids away?

(though your dh does sound as if he truly deserved it)
