Tips for 5 year old party bags please!

I have finally bitten the bullet and am hosting my first big party for my ds. He is having 15 boys and 5 girls to a ball park for a couple of hours.

What are your recommendations for party bags? Items like sweets seem to be frowned upon these days! Also, I don't want to be spending a fortune.

Thanks

I did books instead of party bags last year (4th) - got packs from The Book People. So each child got a book and a fun size bar of chocolate, along with their cake, to take home.

Think I am having printed mugs or t shirts this year - just need to speak to the officer at work to see what the costs are.

DD has had normal party bags all year so far - sweets, chocolate, little plasic toys, etc.

Because I hate party bags, but always give in and do them, I never distinguish betwen bags for boys and girls.

I put pencils, rulers, plasticy crap etc in them plus some chocolate and sweets (parents can confiscate if they see fit). Asda do a good selection of party bag stuff as do www.yellowmoon.co.uk, if you have a couple of weeks before the party.

Good luck - I had my DDs 6th party 2 weeks ago; my advice is have a bottle of something cooling in the fridge for yourself afterwards!

I have the best idea for party bags this year .. unfortunately too late for DS's as have already got stuff

inflatable guitars

for 20 it would work out at 85p each .. plus delivery

and they're fab .. I got 2 .. one for each child

and all the 5 - 6 year olds who have been round keep going 'wow cool'

"I got 2 .. one for each of MY children" that means

have done book people books before but think for 5 year olds might be a bit tricky

oh they delivered within 48 hours .. very impressive

so an inflatable guitar and a piece of cake .. sorted

Seeds work well in party backs leading up to the spring I think, simlpe to grow things like cornflowers and gypsophillia. kids love growing their own things!
