hair cut!

my ds is starting to look like he fcould do with a hair cut. Although it's not thick, in fact it's quite fine, there are some really long bits esp on top.

Any advice? Surely he's still to wobbly to take to a hair dresser (4.5 mths) but i don't fancy the job myself.

Should i bother even!

thanks

They only get wobblier with time, first you can't keep their heads up to do it, later you can't keep them still for more than 2 minutes. I could use a bit of advice too, DS (15m) is starting to look like Elvis.

TBH having never cut hair in my life I decided not to take DS to the hairdressers and cut his hair myself. Babyhair is so fluffy and all over the place I reckoned that it wouldn't really matter if I made too much of a hatchet job of it, actually he looked quite sweet in the end. But now at 4 years old I still do it - although I have gotten better!

HOw do you do it? any tips about where to start? (and surely, where to stop?

Gawd!! Perish the thought
Get to the hairdresser, its only about £3 for them and they have fun - or at least mine did, surrounded by a gaggle of admiring women

I do the entire family, including dh, but mine have never needed a haircut before the age of 2! Putting a video on to keep them still and facing the right way helps. Stripping them down to pants and covering in a large sheet reduces the chance of fidgeting caused by hair itching as well. I usually start at the back and work my way forwrds, leaving the fringe area until last.

Thanks for the advice! I'll have a go at it and try not to cut off any ears or anything. I'll let you know how i get on

I've just cut ds's fringe - has to say its a bit of a s*ds haircut! But as his hair is quite fine you can fluff it up a bit to make it look less obvious. Didn't get any further as he was in danger of losing a finger or something....
