Oh, yes, I think I might have had to do it in two parts...confirm that it was me, and then they sent a letter with the fine and request to send licence.

I don't think you will be banned....

Rafaella · 15/01/2007 22:55

You have 28 days to send the first form back, then another 28 days to send your licence and fine, which gives you plenty of time to find/get new licence.

IdrisTheDragon · 15/01/2007 22:55

Your licence won't have expired as it would have been a paper one.

charliecat · 15/01/2007 22:56

so dont be in a hurry to return the first form till you have a new DL in your hand..

KristinaM · 15/01/2007 22:58

no it doesnt expire. Though you are meant to have told them when you move house

Photocard ones do have an expiry date but they came in later than 1986.

evamum · 15/01/2007 23:12

the people who designed the forms are bastards cos it looks so terrifying, my DH (biker) has had a couple and they always scare the shit out of me because of the wording and how it is laid out!

Ellbell · 15/01/2007 23:44

lisalisa... you definitely won't be banned. Dh (a long time ago now) got stopped for doing 90 mph in the fast lane of the M4 on his motorbike and getting in the way of a police car on its way to an emergency call. (Awful, I know). He got fined for the speeding and for either driving without due care and attention or dangerous driving or something (can't quite remember which) and still 'only' got 4 points and a small-ish fine.

Don't panic. Perhaps they forgot to include the letter bit that said you could pay the fine and avoid the prosecution? Good luck in sorting it out.

Oh, yes, and don't say that you haven't seen your licence for ages. Just say that you lost it recently when your handbag got accidentally dropped into a lake (or something ) and you are in the process of renewing it (and then really do renew it!). It won't have expired. They don't expire till you're 70!

Good luck in sorting it out.

unknownrebelbang · 16/01/2007 00:06

Evamum, sorry, but what is the form supposed to look like?

It is a notice of intended prosecution, a forewarning of possible court action.

paulaplumpbottom · 16/01/2007 00:12

Good luck

nikkie · 16/01/2007 14:17

Soph28-Think if youare gonig 30 mph + over the speed limit its an automatic ban

Tortington · 16/01/2007 14:23

lisa - if you know someone with a rpovisional who doesnt use it - an older relative perhaps - ask them to take points /consequences for you.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 16/01/2007 14:26

MamaG · 16/01/2007 14:43

was it peirs morgan cod?

MamaG · 16/01/2007 14:43

or even piers morgan

100PerCentCod · 16/01/2007 14:44

If you are up t o 25 mph over a 40 or above speed limit youll get a fixed pantly
oevr the 25 moh it goes to court.
if oyu have no other points or its not super fast youll get it done in abscenbce

you an only be banned in person - you HAVe to attend
you can then go through other legal hoops to get out of it - " exceptional hardship " argument.

there is NO WAY otu of it for drink driving
even if oyu were going at 10mph in a car park.

100PerCentCod · 16/01/2007 14:44

104! not 140
