Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has done this or would have any info on where to begin?? I am living in Ireland all my life but was born in Merseyside in Liverpool. My father was English and my parents divorced when I was 1.5 - 2 years old. Have'nt had any contact with my father since although as far as I know, hes still in England - other than that I have no information on him whatsoever.. he never paid maintenance or anything like that so my mother would have no idea. I don't know any of his family so cant ask anyone there... ah, could be abit of a long shot .. but was just thinking might have a go at looking him up, if possible. Any advice would be great!!

Hi,
I'm in a different situation then you, I am tracing my biological parents (am adopted). I went to Social Services and they are helping me deal with it all. I am not sure what they can do for you, but worth a try?

My mum is in the process of trying to track down her biological father. It's so hard! I think i can remember her saying smething about going to or calling somerset house in London? Not sure what goes on here, but might be worth looking it up maybe?

Good luck xx

Girls, thanks a million for your replies. Jofeb04 -if you don't mind me asking - my brother was adopted out years before I was born, have you any idea is it up to him to decide if he would like to trace his mother or can I try and find him? - I just thought I heard somewhere before that he has to choose to find his biological family and that I couldnt?

BarbieLovesKen -- as your parents were married, even though they later divorced, the Salvation Army could probably help you find your father. Check out their site here .

Oh sorry jampot, read too quickly and thought you were jofeb04 - what does annette do? would that be in relation to adoption or tracing a parent? thank you!

Without taking over the thread, has anyone ever used the Salvation Army? If they did find the "family" member, would you have to get in touch with them?

BarbieLovesKen · 14/01/2007 18:06

God, feel free to take over - interested in any info I can get! I never thought of that - I assumed that once that person is found, its up to you what you do with the info.? the Salvation Army website looks really good though - am going to fill out application form as soon as I find out fathers date of birth (thanks lemonaid )

The mother of a former boyfriend of mine runs an agency which specialises in finding birth parents. She's lovely and counsels and supports everyone throughout the process. Her name is Ariel Bruce and you can google her.

Good luck!
