dragging the girls around house viewings is bad enough without the houses being 2 - 2.5 hrs away initially

how do we do it?

dh lives in the city we (think) we will be moving to?

do i Trust Him to view these houses alone?

what did you do

god i WISH i could call on Phil and Kirstie

i think i would trust dh to eliminate properties, but as for picking 'the one'...i think he would chicken out of doing that anyway, with out me seeing or even the dd's

Trinity Academy seems to be ok?

so does Portobello High

and the Royal High?

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 12/01/2007 15:45

Royal High is excellent.

Trinity's allright.

Portobello is in dire condition.

So bad they cannot use the top two floors.

You must be in the catchment area for Royal in order to go there or else you're going to need a lot of luck.

beckybrastraps · 12/01/2007 15:46

I did all the viewings when we were buying this house. Dh only saw ths one. Same last time we bought. Wouldn't be at all happy about it being the other way round though.

We rented for 6 months when we first moved down south though. (He did sort that out by himself)
Is that an option? - and then you'd be on the spot with 6 months to find the 'one'.

nailpolish · 12/01/2007 15:47

oh god i thought they had built a new porty high, they had been talk of it when i lived there in 2001

we quite like one house near the Royal High

becky that is a brilliant BRILLIANT idea

i shall run that by dh

paulaplumpbottom · 12/01/2007 15:50

We did the same as BECKY and it worked out beautifully.

expatinscotland · 12/01/2007 15:50

No, they're still going to school in that piece of shit and arguing w/the council about it.

but there's an endless supply of money for their tram scheme.

beckybrastraps · 12/01/2007 15:51

Gosh

It's not for everyone, but we were glad we did it. Prices were so much higher here than where we were, and we need to find out why some places were more affordable...

OP posts:
beckybrastraps · 12/01/2007 16:02

Ah but are you grand enough for them now it's relocation relocation?

You have to have half a million plus for you family house and another few hundred thousand for your 'crash pad' hundreds of miles away.

(hate the term 'crash pad')

expatinscotland · 12/01/2007 16:06

You mark my words, those f"&^ing trams are going to wind up costing more than that fugly Parliament at Holyrood.

Wasn't there a reason they were taken out in the first place?

They used to have them, after all.

nailpolish · 12/01/2007 16:07

lol i shudder at "crash pad" too

what about that mansionhouse in kent? wasnt that gorgeous?

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 12/01/2007 16:07

Who watches that Relocation crock anymore?

SO old, that one-trick pony.

Yawn. Watching a bunch of Sloaney biatches and their insipid men.

nailpolish · 12/01/2007 16:08

why cant we have a metro? Ed is too cramped above ground as it is

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 12/01/2007 16:09

Their accents sound like nails on a slateboard to me.

I'd rather listen to the grinding of metal on metal than hear those voices.

expatinscotland · 12/01/2007 16:10

A metro would NEVER work. That ground is too poreous and damp ridden.

beckybrastraps · 12/01/2007 16:11

It was fab, but a bit too grand for me really. I am not grand enough for Phil and Kirstie...

nailpolish · 12/01/2007 16:11

oh expat behave!

why you so grumpy?

i cant wait to meet you! wont that be a blast! i insist you pick the venue
