We're about to move house and I've got to get a new kitchen before the one there sinks into the ground. I was wonderering if anyone had had one fitted recently, because all the companies sound like bad news. I had one fitted in my last house by my mother in laws partner, who I don't like much at the best of times. I nearly chopped my head off after two months, with a trip by him to NZ in the middle....Any recent experiences- must haves - must avoids would be warmly welcomed before I invariably make the worst choice! Also the same applies to conservatory people. We're moving to Newark in Notts, so anyone in that area? Thanks a bundle, Laa

we had one fairly recently and i couldn't recommend them highly enough
we went for a local independent who had been around a long time. we always avoid chains.

my kitchen came from B&Q and i'm really pleased with it, the fitters were fantastic (they contract the fitting out though, so maybe i was just lucky )

I have a Miele kitchen. They're fairly expensive, but it looks absolutley fabulous. The fitter was excellent too.

We've just had a new kitchen from Magnet. They were brilliant, very efficient from start to finish but never pushy or trying to sell us stuff we did't want. I'd really recommend them.

We have had a Harvey Jones kitchen, and also a kitchen from Jewsons. Harvey Jones was better quality, and lasted better - both times an independent carpenter fitted them.

Thanks everyone - really helpful to hear what you think. I might try and find a local independent company if poss. Laa
