I think we got an entry level Miele one around that price a year ago which although does not have a large capacity drum shouldl last for years and years.
I have been so far very happy with it, and the washing machine fitting man was very complimentary about Mieles

me too, mine packed up just before Xmas and I have been doing a bit of research and may go for Bosch or Zanussi , no way buying another Hotpoint. I looked at Miele but could see anything under £400.00

Mine is a lovely lovely Bosch - Santa bought it for me just before Christmas.

It has a very very short cycle (about 40 mins) which cleans everything fine, and longer cycles for heavy soiling/nappies.

I also have a bosch and am very happy with it.

Miele and loving it, it really is worth stretching yourself. We have Miele tumbledrier also. I am willing my very old Philips dishwasher to roll over and die, so we can get a Miele.

Thought I had struck gold Christmas week, but it came back from the dead. Grrr

Try washing a few of your husbansds tools in it while he is at work.

I have a Hotpoint wt960g. I love it - its all push pads rather than dials and has a blue led screen that tells you how many mins till wash is done and which programme you've selected and stuff. 1600 spin whch is great, aaa rating and silver!

We got a Siemens about 3 years ago - it is fine except that the wash cycle takes ages, even the short wash.

My Mum has a Miele and can do a quick wash in 20 mins - mine takes about 2 hours

It will be the first thing I check next time we have to buy a new one.
