Just got a dvd recorder , when you record onto a dvd-r I know you can't record over what you have recorded but can you record on the rest of the disc another time?

no I don't think you can. I think its a case of can only record once onto it reguardless of the size of the files/data.

You need RWs if you want to do it more than once.

Got some rws just wondered about recording 2 hours now then 2 later?

Yes you can essentially use RW's as a video cassette - i.e. record a bit now and add onto it at any time or copy over what you have written.

Not sure about -R's though.

Have experimented and yes you can!

For future reference - is that a yes to adding to a -R disk? or just a -RW?

Yes you can add to a dvd-r disc as long as you don't finalise it. Once its finalised you can't record anymore.

nikkie · 03/01/2007 22:09

Yeah yes to the dvd-r disk.

i have a dvd recorder also
when you press for your film to record go into record list and change the recording to lp
this way you will be albe to fit 2 films on one disc
on our machine you can tape a list of things onto one disc but cant re-burn it after to add another programe on

for example i have been taping horrid henry for the boys and i can fit 24 horrid henrys onto one disc but couldnt add another horrid henry onto the disc if i found out i had enought room

nikkie · 03/01/2007 23:38

Mine asks how many hours you want the disk to last. Can choose 2,4,6,8,10,12, Think the max is 12 anyway. So far have used the 2 hour for films but the 10 h one for some cartoon stuff for the kids, quality is def poorer (though its about the same as my video )
