Well, you could ask for reimbursement of the cost, attaching a copy of the invoice from the locksmith, but, if he doesn't cough up, just chalk it up to experience.

flutterbee · 02/01/2007 18:33

I would write a note explaining what the locksmith said and asking for him to cover the cost, it seems perfectly reasonable to me.

If he refused to even pay some of the bill I would ask him to leave straight away.

Explain to him that unfortunately his struggle to lock the door has resulted in the damage, and that you are sorry to have to ask him to cover the cost.

If he is awkward about it, put it in writing, with a copy to the Company Manager of the company producing the panto. Theatre companies rely heavily on the people who provide digs - and may tell him to behave himself. though i doubt there would be any legal redress through them. But he won't like his professional reputation sullied!

Blu · 02/01/2007 18:44

It sounds as if he is a decent guy, will be mortified to have caused you the expense and trouble, and will pay up!
Don't let embarrassment stop you - he will know he was in a right state!

Oh dear. Are you going to speak to the theatre and let them know? After all, it isn't in their interests if their seasonal staff piss off those willing to let them lodge with them.

piglit · 03/01/2007 09:23

That's outrageous!

I agree with Freckle - you must tell the theatre. And perhaps tell them that you'll be expecting them to pay for the locked door.

You should be able to speak to him at th e theatre unless he has done a runner from the company too - in which case perhaps they can dock his last wages .

ScummyMummy · 03/01/2007 09:41

Oh dear! Did he definitely get the note?

Maybe he's skint and couldn't face the horror of his foolish actions... No excuse, I know.

piglit · 03/01/2007 09:43

I'm not suggesting that they wipe their arses but I do think that in the interests of goodwill the theatre (or travelling company) might be prepared to cough up.

It is, of course, your shout.

seriously not shittin ya

Saturn74 · 03/01/2007 10:00

Even if you don't manage to catch him at the theatre, the company manager will have his home address. I'm sure they will be keen to get this issue resolved, as it's very embarrassing that their staff behave like this.

piglit · 03/01/2007 10:02

lol @ custardo

GodRestYeMerryNORTHERNERs · 03/01/2007 10:03

Hi YL! I can't beleive he's done a runner, cheeky b**tard!!

Do you need moral support at the theatre? I can meet you if you like.

Happy first day back at work btw
