What a rat! Jobbing actors are usually skint so he's probably desperate - especially if he's pissing half his earnings up the wall every night!
Hope you get somewhere by visiting the theatre - but sadly you may end up having to put it down to experience and make sure to ask for a deposit next time.
My next door neighbours rented their house out for a couple of years and everything was fine until the last month when one of the tenants ran up a £200 phone bill having never used it previously so my neighbour trusted him to have his deposit back - then the bill arrived a couple of weeks later.

This sounds like a Judge Judy case. I think she'd make mince meat of him.

PMSL at custardo - the local paper will love it! They're always short of news at this time of year!
BRILLIANT - threaten the theatre with the bad publicity and they'll probably deduct it from the bloke's wages. Get in quick, though - the panto must be ending any minute, presumably.

Yeah - go for it! Drunken bum. His school wouldn't be impressed, either, would they?

fortyplus · 03/01/2007 10:58

Can't help with that - sorry. Why not phone and ask who you need to speak to? Even if it's a touring company hiring out the theatre, presumably someone will know.

Yorkshirelass, CAT me! There is a slight chance that I might know at least someone involved if you tell me his name, the theatre, the name of the panto, and if it is a visiting company, the name of the company.

He's sprung a very dirty trick - I thought the fact that he stayed with your parents last year would have given him some loyalty to you!

Blu · 03/01/2007 11:18

Yorkshirelass - the Comapny Stage Manager will be the person on site, but you could ring their head office and ask to speak to the producer or administrator.

AllBuggiedOut · 03/01/2007 11:21

Can you claim on your insurance if you have no joy getting the money from him?

Insurance wouldn't pay if you told them a paying lodger did it.

If he's so flaming innocent, why did he do a runner? Can he explain that? And how can he say he did no damage when he was too rat arsed to know what he was doing??

CountessDracula · 03/01/2007 13:59

I would think that his legging it would be pretty good evidence that he did it!

If he is such an alkie then presumably they know about it too and will believe you. Watch out what you say you don't want to defame him though (as we all know!)

I think that sounds fine

Blu · 03/01/2007 14:35

He'll have more than a bit of a reputation now!

There is a little network of MN-ers with tentacles into the theatre world...CAT me and let's see if we can track him down!

GodRestYeMerryNORTHERNERs · 03/01/2007 14:39

Go on YL CAT her!!! How cool if we manage to track him down and shame him into paying up.

Must say when I saw him leaving your house once I had to look twice as I wondered why a vagrant had access to your house

Then i realised it was the lodger.

He must be responsible for that crap 'all i want is a proper cup of coffee' song that my ds sings every day

Carmenere · 03/01/2007 14:42

He sounds like he has a bad alcohol problem. I hope you track him down.

LIZS · 03/01/2007 14:44

Nice letter , hope you get a positive response. Wonder what he is like the rest of the year ? Perhaps Mrs Lodger is a mnetter ?
