Noisy neighbours

I live in a terraced house and the next door neighbours are students and the person in the room next to mine in the house seems to have their telly on constantly. They seem to often fall asleep with the telly on and so I have this constant buzz of noise in my bedroom meaning I can't sleep. Its not loud per say but it is loud enough to disturb me.
They also all seem to have loud radio alarm clocks that can go off for hours sometimes before they are finally switched off - which is a pain when they have kept me up all night. During the day they play music so loud I can hear all the words clearly in my bedroom - its like I have the radio/cd actually on in my room at normal volume.

I am exhausted, we just have this constant level of noise from next door. I have been to complain but I onl ever see one guy and its not him making the noise - he knocked on the door of the noisy room but it was locked and they did not answer so he was stuck.

I don't think environmental health would care because its not really loud its just constant and annoying. I can't move my bed in the room and we actually only have one bed in our house so its hard to sleep elsewhere. Can I do anything or should I just put up with it?

The only thing you can do is make an official complaint.
Environmental Health will give you advice on dealing with it hopefully

really sympathise smurfgirl.

constant noise is one PITA.

can you find out when the person leaving the tv is in then you go out and leave your tv blaring??

seems the only way to approach it is to let them know what it's like.

have had this in various degrees ourselves and know how awful it is.

Is the place rented?? Try complaining incessantly to the landlord, he'll soon get sick of the complaints and might do something about it.

good luck
