Do you know anyone in the area who is travelling out to Malawi in the nearish future?

My brother is there till May, and I want to send out some stuff for the orphanage he visits (he's actually working for a microloans charity). I've heard that the post is VERY unreliable (db asked for OLD underpants to be sent out to him, as less likely to be stolen by post/ customs men than new ones!), so don't really want to risk sending stuff. We're still waiting to hear if his very modest Christmas present has got through, and the next person from the charity isn't due till 2 weeks before he leaves!

LOL.
I can just imagine the scene at the airport.
Check-in staff: Have you packed this bag yourself, has anyone given you anything to carry?
Mears: yes!
C-I staff: Hmm. What are you carrying?
Mears: I have 4 pairs of old underpants for men that a woman in the internet gave me......

LOL, he's got the underpants! My Mum posted them to him!

Sorry I missed this Tissy - I was working nights over New year and haven't been on. Glad you got it sorted!

Ooops!
Bump! Mears - she hasn't got it sorted - it was my faceatiousness about underpants that lead to that comment...she needs more stuff taking!

Mears, I haven't phrased this very well.

My brother is in Malawi. We know that the customs officers are somewhat light-fingered. Because of this, when my brother needed some pants sent out, Mum had to post him some old ones.

I have heard that the nearby orphanage is in need of some supplies, and would like to help, but am worried that the customs men might help themselves if I post stuff, so do you know anyone who might be able to take somethings for me? I won't wrap them, so they can be scrutinised for contraband, honest!

TBH I am not very sure. Depends how much we are talikng here. There are more trips to Malawi this year but luggage is pretty limited. I am going to a meeting next week so could make enquiries for you.
