Does anyone know where I can get a machine knitting pattern for a child's bolero with long sleeves.

Don't know but get more of a response if you try asking on the Arts and Crafts section--there are some exceptionally helpful knitting people on MN.

this is all new to me, i am after yarn substitute for debbie bliss baby cashmerino and merino aran as i cannnot afford it, any suggestion?

If you join up to Ravelry, they have a lot of patterns listed there, and a machine knitting group that would be able to help with finding a pattern.

Re the alternative yarn choice - Ravelry will be able to help there too!

At the moment it takes about 2 days to sign up and to receive your invitation.

Airedale, I've substituted Sirdar Snuggly for baby cashmerino. Much cheaper, very soft and washes well.
Any yarn marked as Aran should substitute for the merino aran though you might need to play around with needle sizes.
