Get a decent sports bra.

spongecake · 30/12/2006 13:13

go to a proper running shop with staff who run as a hobby for proper shoes.. and when you try on your sports bra in the shop, make sure you jump up and down before you buy it!!!! if your breasts move its no good!

walk your routes first, always stretch and warm up and down-running up hills is excellent for slimming bottoms - and be careful of the canber on roads, you could get shin splits-start slow.. walk of you have too. BTW i LOVE running cross country.. but am due in march so have not run a step since I did the test...can't wait to start again really.........

can one really get a decent sports bra for DDs? And that's not Dear Daughters btw

sassy · 30/12/2006 13:19

berlei shock absorber good up to e-ish cup.

My remarkable 30Js are supported by a Royce sports bra - not sure I'd jog in it tho!

sunnywong · 30/12/2006 13:21

30Js!!! does that bra come with a counter-weight?

Berlei you say

sassy · 30/12/2006 13:24

Lol at counterweight, suzy. I reckon they are a good 9lbs each!

spongecake · 30/12/2006 13:27

I am 32F and find sportsbras can be a bit crappy- not enough support- I once used a cross your heart playtex for a short time john lewis have a good range.. don;t spend too much as you need them every few months, depending on the amount of sport you do and washing...(the bra)

hatwoman · 30/12/2006 13:37

pop in to this thread every now and then for moral support. get yourself good shoes. If you're a paltry b cup like me you may well find you don;t need a sports bra. Measure your runs here for excellent motivation - really good for measuring runs across parks as you can use the photo one and zoom right in. do you know how to stretch properly? it's the same for most exercise. this seems to show what you need to do. Runnersworld is a good source of info - article here about starting off. Another one here

Get a stopwatch. Don't just jog until you think you're going t spit a lung up. Jog,walk, jog, walk, etc.

You can start at a minute of each, or more jogging if you feel fit enough. And keep it at the same level for 2 weeks then increase jogging time.
