UPDATE ON THE CHILD MODELLING FIASCO

I have spoken to the police officer from the sapphire unit today. He has asked me to post on here what he has told me. He has tried to contact izzy several times via the various e-mail addresses she used, and also from the mobile number (which has now been disconnected) The Rubensteinns main server (?) in Australia has been taken down, and they are looking into that also. He stressed that no evidence of misuse of the photographs they had collected has been found by the child protection agency or the child exploitation unit, at the moment they cannot find a reason or use for her deception. They also have no evidence to be able to convict her with any deception, so basically, unless anyone comes forward and states that they paid her x amount for something and received nothing in return there isn't anything they are able to do. The investigation is ongoing, and all the information will be held on file for 6 years, so that if anything does come to light, they have all the knowledge prepared. He also asked me to stress to everyone to not send photographs of your children to anyone, unless you are 100% sure of who they are. Izzy was very clever at earning people's trust, but we never really know who is at the other end of these e-mail addresses (and she has plenty!) He seems to be under the impression that she is either trying to scam people out of agency fees, or that she is just making a really poor attempt at starting a new agency. He mentioned that he is meeting with Bizzy Kidz also this week to discuss the matter further. I hope that helps put some minds at rest.

Thanks allie. I spoke to the same guy this morning who was really helpful and knowledgeable. We had a really long chat and he also asked me to post on here with the results of their investigation which i did, but you put it much better than me so thankyou!

still potentially bloody scary though, after all it's not exactly likely some individual buying pictures for the child porn industry would be admitting to buying them is it. And even if she's innocent of that kind of thing, it does go to show how easily someone with far more sinister motives could obtain pictures of young children.

santassackyackertyyack · 28/12/2006 11:40

Well done allie! I think she is just a fruit shoot who is obsessed with the whole modelling thing and wanted people to think that her kids were constantly working!!
Don't know where she gets the time to do it all as i can't even go to the toilet on my own with 2 small kids let alone set up various wesites/invent jobs etc etc!!!
Still heres to a stress free happy 2007!!

trace2 · 28/12/2006 11:53

Thanks Allie

also wanted to say that I was saddened by the ST article, not because they exposed the rubensteins but becasue they definately went from a child pornongraphy angle. There are two children caught more than ours in the middle of all this, and whilst it is clear that their parents are fraudsters the implication of some kind of perverse link could be devesating for their family unit. I for one did not see this as a satisfactory outcome and was certainly not joyous when i read the article.

idtwinmummy · 28/12/2006 12:27

Quad, you are absolutley right. Also, during my chat with the officer he did say that a completely innocent family have been targeted following the article in the paper and are having to be offered some form of police protection, so some innocent family with children have been put at risk which is really frightening.

Anyway, heres to a happier and stress free new year for all!

QuadropheniaonIce · 28/12/2006 12:40

What another family have been tagrgeted, how come? This whole sorry fiasco is very sad.

idtwinmummy · 28/12/2006 12:51

I think it is a case of mistaken identity, a family living in a house that they lived in are being targeted by people with threats and violence etc so are receiving police protection, panic alarms have been fitted, police presence at their home etc. Scary.

wannaBeOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 28/12/2006 13:08

I find this deeply disturbing tbh. Reality is that we'll probably never really know what these people were doing with the pictures. the fact that the police haven't found any evidence doesn't necessarily mean that they're innocent does it? I mean they've fled to Brazille, their server has been taken down, the email addresses have been discontinued and they are apparently now uncontactable. This hardly seems like the actions of someone who wants to clear their name and sort out any confusion as was stated in the artacle.

I feel for the family who have been targeted as a result of all this, but I do think that this sort of thing does need to be public knowledge, because otherwise she could just start up again in 6 months and if people were none the wiser people would trust her again.

QuadropheniaonIce · 28/12/2006 13:15

they haven't fled to Brazil it was common knowledge they were moving there, seeings as they haven't exactly been clever in terms of how much we have been able to find out, I'm pretty certain if there was something to find they would have done, the fact that they have found nothing, nada suggest to me there is nothing to find. It is clear that they are fraudsters, but whilst the motives are unclear and there is distinct lack of evidence it is wrong to band about child pornography so freely. I have no qualms about the artcle being published but to me it smacked of half an article, one where the reporter hoped to find something more and when he did not he had to use the 'fears of the parents' to enable him to in clude the stuff about child pornography. it was sensationalist and has now led to people bombarding the saphire unit, who lets face it do very important job with limited resources. I for one would much prefer they spent their time investigating and protecting children in more need than my own because I was stupid enough to send my pictures to a stranger.
