Does Ireland (Eire) have postcodes?

Sorry this is going to sound idiotic, but I have an address for a cousin of my dad's who I want to write to, but there is no postcode (she's in Co. Wicklow). Should she have a postcode of some sort? If so where can I go about finding it?

don't think so

Firstly the word Eire exsists only if the entire envelope is to be written in Irish.

So I suggest you use Ireland or the Republic of Ireland.

If she is in Wicklow, then all you will need is County Wicklow, only Dublin has post codes.

Ah, thank you v much. That's great. Will be sure to not put my foot in it and write Eire now (my Irish being non-existent). I've been meaning to write to her for years, she'll be stunned I actually got my act together.

Dublin city is divided into 26(?) post codes but some of the outer ares are just Co. Dublin.

Carmenere

What is the postcode in Cashel.......>>

Carmenere · 27/12/2006 15:40

I got more y'know.................I found a source in Croydon

They aren't specific postcodes either, like in the UK; there is no way you can tell exactly where the street is from the code. "Dublin 8" is massive!
Apparently they are bringing in a regular postcode system in 2008, should make things interesting as that will eliminate any confusion. Right now you can say you live in a much posher area than you actually do, i.e. Clondalkin vs. Lucan, Malahide vs. Swords.
OK, enough Irish trivia I guess!

Really do tell..................

When are you coming to see me ....??
