Sorry have been AWOL for the last week or so, have had visitors in and out, midwives in and out, breast feeding woman in and out, but finally DH has gone back to work, did my first morning of properly on my own getting a 4 year old up and ready for school, while sorting the baby out and all before 8.55 it went absolutely brilliantly until I opened the front door at 8.50 and saw that all the kids were wearing normal clothes, so I had to quickly get DS1 changed from uniform to normal clothes, left baby outside in the cold in his buggy, running around the house while shouting at DS1 to get his trousers off.... it did go well until then, made it into his classroom by the skin of our teeth!! It is a good job we live across the road from the school!

Anyway, what's going on here? MN has changed, will take a while to get used to but I am sure I will manage it!!

How are all of the other famous five getting on? (I will swanny over to the Nov thread after

We are doing really well, I think!! He has some trouble getting his wind up, he doesn't scream the place down or anything, but just fidgets and bubbles away keeping him awake, (we have already tried loads of so called fail proof ways of getting it up, but any more tips would be great if anyone has them, we are willing to try just about anything!!)

Breast feeding is going really well, he was weighed Thursday (7 days old) and was 8lb 12oz so up 2oz on his birth weight, no sore boobs and I am feeling very positive about it this time, the lady from the breast feeding group thing is absolutely lovely, and has really helped with the practical issues of fitting it in with everything else, and gave us some tips on how to encourage him to take slightly longer feeds etc.

He is a very happy and content baby, spitting image of his brother but he has darker hair than DS1, he is never happier than when we have a loud noise going on, DS1 playing, the hoover, loud music etc. it just sends him straight off to sleep! He did develope a bit of a yellow tone but midwife said it wasn't bad enough to do any tests or whatever, just to leave him in natural day light as much as possible, and he had really dry skin everywhere except his face and back, but that seems to be getting a bit better now.

I have tried to post a picture but it says the picture is too big or something, will try and get DH to sort it out at some point.

So much for a quick update!! I am going to go and check the Nov. thread before the next feed - hopefully! Big thanks and hugs to everyone again for all of the support and help you gave me in those last few weeks, am I mad to be thinking of doing it all again in a couple of years??!!

Well done NJ. Glad to hear it's all going well.

I think everyone is still recovering from your labour threads. Maybe you need to check with them if you're allowed another baby and marathon labour lol!

LOL

glad to hear from you !!

you have me email addy, doncha? lulumama 21 @ hotmail .com

sounds just marvellous...what a lovely baby..and mummy too!

re wind......hold them under the chin and under the arms and sort of dangle them! and gently tilt and wiggle them around and that seems to help

both of mine were hard to wind. and this wiggling seemed to help.. DD used to finally do the most enormous burps..like a full grown man, or barney off the simpsons burps..her whole head would sort of whiplash around with the force of it !!!!

also, gentle massage on the tummy, anticlockwise and bicycling his legs !

Thanks for the winding tips, we have found that if we give him a few minutes after he has finished feeding then start winding him he sometimes will get a bit up, but it has been days on end since he was last completely wind free, poor little mite wriggling all over the place. At least it doesn't seem to be hurting him as such, he isn't screaming the place down or anything.

I will try and send you a picture by email Lulu, give me a minute though, I am not good at this technical stuff!! LOL
