pantomimEdam · 24/12/2006 11:17

Laphroaig (sp? called laphroig) is a good single malt from Islay. Good luck!

MagicGenie · 24/12/2006 13:37

Hello again Amanda1

I was hovering yesterday when we were all getting impatient for news but couldn't stay too long..>!

Date sounds fab; he's got class, eh?!

What has he dropped off...any news yet?!

Very happy for you - keep the updates coming xx.

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 24/12/2006 13:38

watch out with Laphroig a lot of people don't like it (it tastes a bit like TCP) but a lot of course do, but it is one of those love or hate things!

You might be safer with a Macallan or something

jalopy · 24/12/2006 13:45

Amanda1, this has got to be the most exciting and heart-warming thread on MN. Thrilled for you that the date went well. Don't worry about your bijou home, he'll only have eyes for you. Keep us up to date with every detail!! How sad are we?!!

Ahh that's lovely. I'm so happy for you.

I totally understand what you mean by not wanting to accept money off him, but I'm always of the view of if offering to return money or to pay for your share if not accepted by the other party sometimes you can't really do much about it. I'm sure he knows that you aren't after his money.

jalopy · 24/12/2006 14:38

OOOhhh, Amanda1. You'll have me in tears. He sounds lovely.

ledodgychristmasjumper · 24/12/2006 14:39

Amanda that is wonderful it sounds like you're onto a keeper there. i'm so happy you've found someone who is treating you well. Merry Christmas and from what i've read from your posts over the couple of years i've been on here you truly deserve it.

Carmenere · 24/12/2006 14:40

He is right about the dress, you shouldn't have to go bankrupt to buy one and you shouldn't have to attend in a dress that isn't up to scratch and he is VERY thoughtful and considerate to realise this. He is obviously smitten, obviously thinking about you alot, he sounds very nice

wickedwinterwitch · 24/12/2006 15:04

I wouldn't think twice about taking the money for the dress. er, how much

Cappuccino · 24/12/2006 15:04

please forward details of your babysitters

all this staying out all night business

I'd have to lock my kids in a cupboard to do that

MerryMellowmas · 24/12/2006 15:09

Just catching up with recent events today, and the etiquette is: you take the money and buy yourself a beautiful dress, you go out at YR and you have the time of your life!!!

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[excited emoticon]

9BeetrootsDancing · 24/12/2006 15:37

How much is though???

saffy202 · 24/12/2006 15:41

This thread is fab
Better than the rubbish they've put on the telly this Christmas

StrangeTown · 24/12/2006 15:59

Can't wait for next installment. Beety we are relying on you to put some outfit ensembles together (with links please) - without knowing the exact budget you will maybe have to put together some options - mid price through to extravagant!

9BeetrootsDancing · 24/12/2006 16:06

she has my dress that I willpost next week - deending on how much he has given her...that could go towards jewels and shoes!!!

\link{http://collection.hobbs.co.uk/aw06/index.cfm?page=1078&element=1705&parent=1068&numdisplay=6 \this is stunning}

as is this

wakeupandsmellthecoffee · 24/12/2006 16:28

Amanda this is going to be a great story to tell your gran kids (how you and grandad met ) LOL

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 24/12/2006 16:39

He sounds fantastic, does he have a brother you want to send my way ?

Will be checking for an update tomorrow of whats under the tree!!!!!!

andaSOAPBOXinapeartree · 24/12/2006 17:01

phase eight has some wonderful party wear this year

If you go to the AW06 campaign - I think the bottom left hand corner red dress would be stunning. But all of the AW06 collection and the evening wear collection is stunning!

Their sales are usually more or less a straight half price so you should get a bargain
