This is just fanastic, he sounds lovely. And you sound like you are being very realistic and sensible but Im sure you really just want to jump around and make excited squeaking noises

The poor man just doesnt realise the full weight of MN expectation on his shoulders!

StrangeTown · 23/12/2006 19:31

Ooh Amanda - been waiting to check into this all day. Well, your update could not have been any more perfect. And you sound like you are being very realistic and practical about all this, despite the excitement of it all - well done. You should def go on NYE - you will be able to sort something perfect to wear with the power of Mnet...

naughtynoonoo · 23/12/2006 19:35

Think positive thoughts girlies for Amanda to catch the bouquet at the wedding - Amanda I hope you were good at netball - but you already landed yourself a great catch. No details on what was said in the card - or was it too personal . I said to DH last night I wanted to read three good books over Christmas - well I don't think anythink is going to top this read. You do get a warm glow reading it - bless

IvorthePolarExpress · 23/12/2006 19:45

Very pleased that it went well, Amanda. I don't know if you saw my post much further down in the thread but dh and I are where you and your chap might be in 17 yrs time. I can sympathise with having to dress up too. I saw a news item on tv yesterday (I think it was) about someone being wined and dined abroad (I don't want to go into more details really) and that was so similar to us in that country recently, yet I'm your jeans and a fleece type at home, mind you so is he. Good luck with the relationship and give me a shout if you want to. I can do bullet point dos and don'ts.

hoxtonchick · 23/12/2006 19:47

fan-bloody-tastic

sotheycalledmeparapapillon · 23/12/2006 19:48

Bravo Great to hear you had a fab night!!

and that you have your eyes open. Lovely that he bought you a Christmas gift - did you get him anything?

helsyslittlehelper · 23/12/2006 19:49

Have also been enjoying this thread Amanda. As for something to wear, I remember thinking when I bought something in November for a black tie do that there was so much nice dressy stuff around (M and S, Monsoon,Coast) that a lot of it would inevitably be in the sales, so you might get lucky (again)

TinselgalacticWalrusOfLURVE · 23/12/2006 19:50

Wow amanda! he sounds amazing!

I am so glad you had a good time.

v of you going to a posh black tie wedding. (I'll be at home getting hammered with a bottle of rioja and some crisps)

Skylertnightholynight · 23/12/2006 19:54

Fan bloody tastic Amanda! I am loving this!
'Hopeful' is so romantic. You must go to the wedding. Coast is great and they have a sale on at the moment. I have a long black sparkly (silver sparkles) low backed dress from Principles in a size 12 if you want to try it. It is very old but was only worn once. I bet there will be others with ideas. You SHALL go to the ball. .

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 23/12/2006 19:58

You know... this reminds me of KateAndTheGirls.. sigh........... She met her prince and we all lived vicariously through that as well.

Skylertnightholynight · 23/12/2006 19:59

Actually they had some gorgeous dressy dresses in Jane Norman for £50 which I thought wasn't too bad as they looked v posh.

We've just got a JAne Norman in Debenhams , some lovely stuff in there that looks really posh but isn't that expensive.

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 23/12/2006 20:17

wickedwinterwitch · 23/12/2006 20:22

Yes, you should be hopeful, it's good to be optimistic and you have every reason to be imo.

Steppy1 · 23/12/2006 20:26

I met my DH at work...admittedly he wasn't the boss but it WAS complicated...11 years on and with DS and DD it was a faurytale that worked out so be hopeful girl !!

SnafuOutOfHiding · 23/12/2006 20:29

Amanda, CAT me your address and I'll send you a dress I've got that might be perfect I'm 5'7", norkily-challenged and a 12 (ish) and always got compliments whenever I wore it.

It's not black, though... (but it does come with it's own beautiful matching wrap!)

SnafuOutOfHiding · 23/12/2006 20:31
