Has anyone experienced with BT Openworld expereince a problem downloading incoming messages via Outlook Express? I've had this for the pass 3 days, but know that I can send out messages and that they're getting through. Just thought I'd ask here before trying their expensive helpline.
TIA

If you are using a broadband connection to access your emails your bt openworld account will be suspended every 60 ir 90 days, if this has happened use a dial up connection to access bt openworld account and choose retrieve account option. It should then work for another 60 or 90 days.

They have also changed their pop3 & smtp servers from mail.btopenworld.com to mail.btinternet.com so these will need changing in Outlook Express.

Hi,
I have this problem and having phoned their very expensive helpline and having spent about £3.50 pressing buttons as instructed I'm none the nearer. He did say if his instructions didn't help it's because they are having problems which their engineers are currently working on for those of us who cannot receive incoming emails. He gave me a freephone (faint) number for updates as to where their engineers are up to with solving this problem.= 0800-731-7777. Then press option 1. So like you I 'm in solitary confinement...just talking to myself!!! BT openworld is really a cr*p service I think ever since it became BT Yahoo. I'm thinking of changing provider from sheer frustration.

just been trying to look for the download but cant find it
i only did it last week

Thank goodness I am not the only one experienco=ing problems here,I am, being driven insane by the whole mess.Seem to have spent ages reconfiguring my Email still not working properly though and now cannot get browser to work Grrrrrr

Thinking of changing my provider now as have had enough can anyone recommend a good one?

chiswickmum · 17/05/2004 22:54

Just to say that I've still got the problem and have come across others with it. It seems that it is a problem with BT rather than our PCs. Unfortunately there is nothing to suggest that there is an ongoing problem on the BT site re service status. I gues they want us to waste money on their 'helpline'.

Anyone having any luck? Still cut off from the rest of the world bar you lot!!!
Such an appalling service.
And what does my head in is that they never say that as a result of their problems WE can have a free month or something.

Totally agree with you Mavis, I too have had these same problems particularly since BT "upgraded" me to Yahoo. What other ISP's do m/netters use (that are good)?
