sun canopy

Has anyone used the sun canopy from GLTC that collapses easily and is part mesh?Any ideas of good sun canopy/parasol for a buggy greatly received.Thank you.

I found parasols a real pain. You spend all your time adjusting them every time you turn a corner.
We used a canopy that we attatched to the buggy from Mothercare I think ( it's a while ago, dd's 2 and 4 1/2). But I find now I'm less concerned about the sun if they're covered with sun cream and /or wear loose,cool clothes that cover most of them plus a good sun hat. All the best.

If you use a parasol the type that you can clip on and off easily are well worth it, otherwise a real pain when it's not sunny. The part that you attach to the pushchair has proved to be a year round effective bag holder.

Found a tea towel or a sarong and a few clothes pegs very useful for creating total shade. I prefer to go for the shade route rather than the cream route as I worry about keeping it topped up all the time as we burn so easily.

Puffin I have a lovely sun parasol from mothercare. Used once only, because my baby son found he could adjust it himself - a good game for him, but negating reason for having it - shade. I don't know the age of your baby, but if they are into grabbing and tweaking things, do check that things are out of reach and beyond their strength.

Being a displaced Californian I am a having a little giggle at your sun worries as after 4 years in london I have not yet noticed anything I could call sun....But having said that, when I travel I used to find that the best thing to use is a very light piece of cotton cloth (a cheap indian cotton sarong from Primark is what i currently use) draped over the buggy. It keeps sunburning sun out but still lets a bit of light and air through. But now that my son is 18 months it is not terribly effective as he just pull is off. I now use sun tan lotion on his arms and legs, (but not on his face because it stings horribly if it gets in his eyes) and a hat for his face.

Puffin, do you mean the Shade-a-Babe? The top hooks onto the hood of the buggy, and the mesh has three or four hooks on bungees on either side, which clip to any convenient part of the buggy. I found it excellent last summer, as I could leave it on the buggy, out of the way, but instantly available, just like the raincape (but not both at the same time!). There are two models, one for 3-wheelers, and one for most other buggies. The only drawback I've found is that the bungies stretch and this year it's not as secure as last. I suppose I could knot them or something.

Frankly, I wouldn't go near a parasol with a barge pole, now.

I grew up in Berkeley, but lived in Los Angeles for 7 years before coming here. I miss is dreadfully. I'm sure your son will love it. Where is he going? Why?
