You're not fat. Fat is a state of mind. I thought I was fat when I was 16, I was a size 10! I don't feel half as fat now, and am considerably bigger.

If you feel frumpy, put some makeup on in the morning, even if you have to slap it on while sitting on the loo, or put a dvd on for the kids for 10 minutes.

best mates can be crap. Can't help you with that one.

If your hubby takes you for a mug, stop him. Actually if you start feeling less frumpy you will be more inclined to stick up for yourself, so it's back to makeup on the loo.

You eldest daughter adores you, that's why she is being awful to you. repeat to yourself "Seven is a small child, seven is a small child". Ride it through, I bet she will be lovely when she is 20

I am sorry you are fed up though.

You don't have to listen to me, just wanted you to know someone had heard you.

good health is the important thing - Hugs xxx

dingdongmerRADLEYonhigh · 05/12/2006 23:39

i have my nails and hair done once a month, don't leave the house without mascara and lipgloss, and keep trying to tell dh to stop treating me like a mug.

I just hate going everywhere and being the fattest, though i DO dress for my size.

It is dh's work do on friday and i'm dreadin it, knowing i'll be the fattest there.

i get terribly sweaty though, and, though i bathe/shower every day i still get paranoid.

Also i have bad psoriasis on my arms which in itself is noticable.

Feel for you here - could you take a small bottle of your fav perfume or some scented body lotion? Would you have a wrap or a chiffon type jacket/wrap thats light to cover but wont make you warm?

dingdongmerRADLEYonhigh · 05/12/2006 23:54

Aw Colditz your post made me well up You're lovely

Radley, hold your head high doll, 'cos when you start having respect for yourself, that's when others stand back & being to respect you for who you are!!

And if the weight really is an issue... would you think of doing something about it? You could join the slimming world thread, a lot of the girls on there don't go to a class, they use the thread as moral support?? You would be most welcome to join!! It's easy to lose weight on it as you never feel hungry.

What have you got to wear to hubbys work do? If it's any consolation, I am 100% sure that there will be some skinny bint who is worrying just as much as you are... my sister is a size 8 and is always jealous that I have curves... I am size 14/16 & always feel frumpy.. til she says "I wish I have curves, I look like a boy" So just keep that in you head pet, & you'll be grand xx

dingdongmerRADLEYonhigh · 06/12/2006 08:55

firefly, i'm going to wear my fave pair of bootleg jeans and a \link{http://www.evans.ltd.uk/stores/Evans/images/product/EPK62/EPK62-fs.jpg\black top) which has a laced up back and a pair of black boots with killer heels.

I'm also having my infills done on my nails on Friday morning and my hair done hopefully on thursday

Radley, you might feel at home on our BigMoFos thread -- lots of very friendly women with significant weight to lose, many your size or bigger, and also focusing on self-esteem issues and getting your head in the right place rather than just on the weight.

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 06/12/2006 10:35

Oh Radley that top looka ace!!!! Brilliant! And the heels will look class with it!! You'll knock 'em dead

paulaplumpbottom · 06/12/2006 10:54

I am a size 16 and I swear to you all my friends are size 10 and under so I kinda know how you feel. I don't let it get me down. Just because I am a 16 doesn't mean I'm not pretty and I don't have to be frumpy. Walk in there with your chin up!!!!!! You know even though they are all tiny(I love them all they are wonderful, kind, the best friends I could ever ask for) I still have the best looking man in the room.

Stockingsofdinosaurs · 06/12/2006 11:07

Your outfit sounds great, can't go wrong with assassin boots and I bet all the blokes will want to bite your bum in jeans (that's what my dh does to me!).
Have you tried Mitchum antiperspirant? Think it's probably the best you can get in supermarkets.
Have a look at the self-esteem thread too, I'm trying to be a Happiness Guru and run a 'Get Confident, Stupid' bootcamp for the new year.

FLAMEinEckItsYuleAgain · 06/12/2006 11:14

Not read whole thread (brain a bit fuzzy today).

  1. Sometimes the tears need to come - let them come, get a bit soggy, feel the release.

  2. Fat? Numbers aren't important. Out of all my friends, the one that I think is the most beautiful is by far the biggest.

  3. Put on some makeup and nice jewellery (it helps... says me wearing sod all prettiness )

  4. Best mates can be like that, but remember - with the hail and storms is also the glorious summer day, the calmness after a summer thunderstorm, and the fun of the snow

  5. Say Oi Hubby NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Seriously - talk to him.

  6. She is full of hormones... it'l change in about 10 years . Check out your biorhythms (here ) where you are having low days/or she is - make allowances.

  7. Fixin the rest should help. Oh, or eat chocolate

paulaplumpbottom · 06/12/2006 11:15

Have you tried Monsoon? They go up to a 22 and they are cut for us bigger girls. Plus they are lovely and well made.
