I've just let our springer spaniel out for a wee, and he's brought a hedgehog into the kitchen!!!

I've kept the dog outside and put a bowl over the HH (it can breathe though) and H is still in bed.

WHAT THE EFF DO I DO??????@?

I don't know.....put a hedgehog....

I don't think dogs brought things in!

christmascarol3 · 05/12/2006 05:46

grab a thick towl and put it back in the garden.

earlgrey · 05/12/2006 05:46

Well I can't touch it, that's for sure.

Bring the dog in, put him in another room, uncover the hedgehog and leave the back door open. You'll probably find that it will find it's own way out, provided it isn't frightened.

christmascarol3 · 05/12/2006 05:49

could you lie a bucket down next to it with some leaves in it may run in, then you can put it outside.

sandcastlesforanaussiexmas · 05/12/2006 05:49

lol...you'll have to wake hubby or get to the dog to take it back outside!

FestiveFrex · 05/12/2006 05:50

Alternatively, if it is so frightened that it has curled into a ball, can't you use a big wooden spoon to roll it out the door??

earlgrey · 05/12/2006 05:57

Bloody hell you lot are brave!!! I can't even bring myself to take the bowl off, let alone touch it, thick towel or no!

We've got a baby gate between the kitchen and the rest of the house for when the dog's got muddy feet. I can just picture the damn thing working its way through the bars and hibernating somewhere in our house.

And I absolutely cannot, cannot make packed lunches with a hedgehog padding around my feet!

awww, it could be a new pet. I bet your dog will be sorry once it starts eating it's food!

christmascarol3 · 05/12/2006 06:02

classic

earlgrey · 05/12/2006 06:20

Christ, the bowl's started moving now!

christmascarol3 · 05/12/2006 06:21

poor thing have you named him yet ?

ludaloo · 05/12/2006 06:58

if you can't touch it...can you usher it out by moving the bowl til it goes in the right direction???
Honestly, they are harmless..just pick it up with a towel...it'll just curl up anyway.

FestiveFrex · 05/12/2006 07:00

But watch out for the fleas .

ludaloo · 05/12/2006 07:01

don't worry about the fleas...hedgehog fleas can't live on anything else...they will stay on the hedgehog. If they do fall off they will die anyway.

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 05/12/2006 07:05

Lol, I'll swap with you.
You can have my dishwasher pipe eating pregnant Rat and I'll have your cute hedgehog!

earlgrey · 05/12/2006 07:43

NBG, thanks, but I think I'll pass on that one!

Great. I now have a plastic bowl shuffling its way along the kitchen floor leaving a trail of shit behind it .....

paulaplumpbottom · 05/12/2006 08:11

LOL At least your morning hasn't been boring.

FestiveFrex · 05/12/2006 08:21

Let the dog back in. If he's anything like mine, he'll eat it - the shit, not the hedgehog .
