I was told with both mine that it is because it is all very new to the babies and their system as both mine did it so I would say normal.

Twiglett, this happens sometimes with my dd too (3 and a half weeks) - I would say it is normal.

I would also say this was normal. I think they find it very strange rather than agonizing. After all, they never had to bother with it before!

we use to call it dd's poo cry as she did it every time then one day it just stop - we took her to the HV but she said it was perfectly normal.

My dd did exactly the same thing and like fairydust she just stopped one day. I asked my gp and HV who both said that as she was breast fed she was unlikely to be constipated but just didn't like the sensation of pooing as it was so new to her.
