flutterbee · 28/11/2006 15:56

Well my name actually makes me want to be sick it is so babyish but I just can't arsed to go through the whole, who are you? stage again.

mumtomylittlepumpkins · 28/11/2006 15:56

Oh whenwill, you mustn't listen to any of this lot, keep your name, it was lovely...

Twiglett · 28/11/2006 15:56

Its because this is a parenting site .. so hence one can assume we're all (or the vast majority of us) are parents .. so it doesn't actually have anything to do with YOU as an individual

it would be like calling your baby 'Human' or 'Child'

Mr Human Smith

Twiglett · 28/11/2006 15:57

mellowma is not naff

spursmum · 28/11/2006 15:57

So does mine count as naff? It's my footie team and was the only name I could think of at the time.
Maybe I should change, feel like a change.

tdandjsgranny · 28/11/2006 16:00

I've changed mine jsut to annoy you

nailpolish · 28/11/2006 16:00

nah, i like spursmum

dont change

namechanging is v confusing IME

IdrisTheDragon · 28/11/2006 16:01

I was briefly Benjaminsmummy, before realising that I wanted to be a name that was mine rather than his, IYSWIM.

zephyrcat · 28/11/2006 16:02

Oh bloody hell - says a lot for me then being identified by my cat!!

NotQuiteCockney · 28/11/2006 16:04

LOL that you assumed hunkermumker was me! (I assume you stopped thinking that when she said your's though, right?)

IamtheLizardQueen · 28/11/2006 16:04

So I can't change my name to this instead!!!
(spursmum!)

NotQuiteCockney · 28/11/2006 16:05

Oooh, I like that name better!

(But then, I assumed 'spursmum' was related to football or cricket or something, and I don't do professional sports, so it's the 'spurs' bit I'm put off by, not the 'mum' bit ...)

Issymum · 28/11/2006 16:06

Ahem! Whilst Issymum is undoubtedly, if not 'naff', less than inspirational, it is now my name and after a very brief flirt with name-changing (Issyfit), I'm going to stick with it.

A name is like your Mumsnet brand and changing it would squander any brand-value that you might have built in it.

whenwilltodaybeover · 28/11/2006 16:08

I'm so bored at work, i'm sat here trying to think of a good name now.... look what you've started!!!

bctmum · 28/11/2006 16:08

What's wrong with my name!!

Issymun · 28/11/2006 16:09

What's worse than name-changing, though, is when other people come along and pretend to be you ...

IamtheLizardQueen · 28/11/2006 16:09

NQC it's my favourite line from the Simpsons. The Duff Gardens episode when Lisa drinks the water. When she is brought to the the security area, she stands there in a towel and prounounces "I am the Lizard Queen!!"

hunkermunker · 28/11/2006 16:10

NQC, you were too slow off the mark with that one, eh

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 28/11/2006 16:10

Hmmm, sounds like a Doors reference, isn't it?

NotQuiteCockney · 28/11/2006 16:11

NQC . o O (Am I pretending I don't have a big collection of hunkermunker-type names on hold?)

Mum2FunkyDude · 28/11/2006 16:11

UnderWitnessProtectionCod · 28/11/2006 16:15

hunkermunker · 28/11/2006 16:15

Well, there's only one Hunkermunker

The others are imposters...

Jools, do they call you "Granny"? Or something else?

OP posts:
3andnomore · 28/11/2006 16:19

lol...I can't really comment as I know mine is naff, and o.k. it's not got mum in it, but it is obviously a reference to the amount of Kids I have, etc....hohum...am to lazy to change my name though, and I find it far to confusing anyhow!
