anyone got any advice?
It comes out in book bags, and Im doubtfull that a business based on a heads good humour to take magazines in and distribute what with all the other gumph as well, would do well? The franchise fee is alot of money and if indeed the heads do stop distributing, what has one bought?
(there is another thread about it going on I know but thought Id try in a different section for advice!)

Had a look at the website, could be good if you get the right backing and support from the company.

I don't see distribution being the problem, the main bit seems to be selling the advertising. Do all the listings in the mag have to be paid for or are they listed anyeway then companies can take out additional ads?

If schools decide to stop distributing commercial stuff then mags can be put in doctors, clinics, vets, dentists, chemists, soft play places, supermarkets. Any places that advertise with you could take a pile.

On the other hand you could do your own smaller scale local version, but you would probably need some publishing/ design experience, but again sales seems to be the big thing. You make the money from selling the advertising. You could start with a news letter type thing and build it up to a leaflet then a mag, targeting local firms to advertise in it and list events and facilities.

do it yourself- what are you buying that youcouldn't do yourself?

I think thats the thing with franchise, you have to really look at what they are going to do for you and if that makes a difference.

Use of their name- useless if they are unheard of.
Technical backup- good if you don't have the know how.
Nationwide website- can be usefull but not helpful if it doesn't sell/ show your advertising.
