Tape recorder - modern equivalent for a 5 yr old?

I am fondly recalling a favourite present from when I was 6 or 7, it was a tape recorder with microphone, and my sisters and I had much fun recording ourselves singing, doing radio shows etc....DS1 is turning 5 soon and was wondering what the modern day equivalent to this is? Any idea?

Any other ideas for fab 5-yr-old bday presents much appreciated!

Digital cameras (both basic and ones aimed at kids) can record video.
There's quite a few toys where you can talk to it and it will repeat what you said in a silly voice.
