Calling those in Marketing!

I'm about to undertake a diploma in Marketing. I'm totally new to the subject my degree is in an unrelated subject.

Are there any Marketing Specific Publications I should be subscribing to?

Loads - but to start with I would make sure you read the drum, marketing week and brand Republic online. I would perhaps create a list on Twitter for these and other marketing specific things as this is the easiest way to keep up to date.
A lot of marketing is also about business context so ft, economist are handy too. Media pages of the guardian can be helpful.
From what I remember from years back doing my post Grad marketing diploma a lot of it was about having some examples up your sleeve - so keep your eyes peeled - think about how big companies and small market themselves - price promotions, packaging, company culture, ads ( on and off line)
