Sorry, I need some advice about my dog (3 y.o. female). She's been throwing up today, and has liquidy, bloody stool. I know I need to take her to a vet, but the vet we go to is closed today. Do you think this can wait until tomorrow, or should I find an animal hospital?

TIA for your advice.

ring your vet they will have an emergency number, not sure if its possible but this happened to a dog we had when I was younger who had eaten something poisonous. Sorry hope that doesnt scare you too much, is your dog otherwise happy? If at all lethargic get her seen, SPCA have on call help too I think?

Not a vet but i would have though you could phone the vets and get a emergency number for advice. There should be a vet on call who can help and perhaps the number will be on the answer machine.

This could be that she's eaten something poisonous, or something sharp (any tiny toys, bit of lego etc. missing?)

I'f she's constantly throwing up / scouring or is obviously in a lot of discomfort, get her to a vet now. Most UK vets take a phone call, and will arrange to meet you at the surgery ASAP to examine her.

If she's not dehydrating, and has settled down, then make sure she has plenty to drink and rest. No food (just as for a toddler who's ill really).

Let us know how she is won't you

Again, thanks for your replies everyone! We rang the animal hospital and they said the same thing as Easy. So she's resting now, and we'll give her small amounts of water, and no food....

No toys missing, but she'd been chewing on a bone that she's had for almost a year now. We went thru this about a month ago, and she'd been given antibiotics, and she got better. Wondering whether it might be some sort of parasite....
