not sure - but try flushing the toilets and running the taps for a bit?

Whizzz · 23/11/2006 16:19

Look in the cistern & see if the ball cock (stick with a floaty ball on the end) is stuck. Push it down to stop the water from flowing into the cistern & then overflowing

Whizzz · 23/11/2006 16:20

if the ball cock is dodgy - the cistern 'thinks' that there is not enough water in it & keeps adding more...hence the overflow

MerlinsBeard · 23/11/2006 16:24

ours does this alot and the landlord won't orepair properly. Flush the loo and it should stop, its becasue the ball cock isn't stopping the water flowing into the cistern so it is overflowing.

madmarchhare · 23/11/2006 16:26

So if it is dodgy, is it difficuly to replace myself? or (if I cant), will it be pretty inexpensive if I call a plumber sounding like I know what Im on about? Is there nothing much more it could be?

Depends on why its stuck - you can sometimes bend the stick to solve it. Shouldn't be too hard to replce yourself at a guess

madmarchhare · 23/11/2006 16:27

I assume it will do it again though even if I flush the loo.
