DS is a 'toy' in the school play. Today he has bought home a letter asking me to provide a costume, I think well he can just wear one of his dressing up outfits, he on the otherhand announces he wants to be a jack in the box, how the hell do I make a costume for that?

eehhmm sounds as though you might be doing something similar to dd's school...but i'm just going off dd's explanation atm...will find out more on friday

how about a big box from[mcds] painted and yourds could pop out like the jack in the box??

I never seen an MCD box that big...if your mcds stands for Mc Donalds, lol!
Anyway, definately get a big box that your ds will fir easily in...paint it, have the lid up, ie he sprung out.....you cold put material on the bottom bid, that is the same colour as the box, so you don't see legs, but not sure if that really is necessary...anyway, ds should probably wear an jesters or clown costume underneath....oh, and you could make a handle on the outside, too, papmache, or cardboard or whatever you like to use...

ask the staff in mcd's for a large or medium cold cup box(the ones they get there stock in)....they are fantastic for stuff like this
