Morning all.
Comtess - what Norah said. Pretty much anything which is a bit
will be because of plot/not finishing the story too quickly. e.g. "Oh look, i have dragons, I shall kill all the white walkers, marry you-know-nothing-jon-snow and feed all the annoying Lannisters (i.e. not Tyrion and I suppose we can keep Jaime if you really want) to my dragons, and we'll all live happily ever after.
Sorry - what was that. another series. Oh... hmmm. Maybe I'll faff around in the hot place for a it longer then...
There is the most fantastic essay by Nick Lowe about plot devices/coupons/tokens at news.ansible.uk/plotdev.html which makes me giggle every time I read it (and may well be part of the reason I went off fantasy as a genre for quite a while) not that I'm saying Mr Martin is a bad writer, but having read the essay I now tend to read other stuff and go "Oh - look. Plot device/coupon/token" and grin to myself.
And speaking of plot. Which I know we're not meant to. But in S2 The Return. Did anyone else go "Eh?"
when Athos tells Catherine they were too young to be betrothed and she responds with "and then you brought that woman home..." So, too young to be betrothed but he's old enough to marry? I know, I'm sorry, we're not meant to talk about plot, but... WTAF writers?
Anyway, off to RL and a work phone call...
