Car Breakdown Cover - discounts ?

Have just found that the Renault Assistance/AA breakdown cover which came with our used Renault Extended Warranty has expired and that they apparently have no system for sending a reminder offering renewal of breakdown cover so currently we have none. Any recommendations as to which is the most cost effective and how to get a discount on premiums. Car is 5 years old btw.

You can get RAC for 75% off with Clubcard vouchers!

Alternatively check out moneysavingexpert for cheaper ones - I have FirstCall which is c #40 for full cover (but Martin recommends the Tesco/RAC deal as best value)

sadly not enough clubcard vouchers dh thinks he can get Green Flag through work or our insurance - any good ?

Green Flag are good I think, and getting it through your car insurance can be cheaper, but have a look at moneysavingexpert anyway, he has a whole section on breakdown cover

Thanks for the moneysavingexpert link . Interesting variations but for some reason it doesn't include Green Flag.

The First Call I have is £42.50 - haven't used it yet though so no idea how good the service is!

(And it doesn't cover for running out of fuel, or losing keys, or locking them in the car - I don't know if the big ones cover for that, it's the sort of stupid thing I would do though so I may go for RAC/Clubcard next time I renew)

I just checked the Which report, the best buys were various AA packages (shurely shome mishtake) and Britannia Rescue.
