Some of us are sat in the communal tavern bed eating cake and being drunk. Some of us are on a forrinholiday having a very successfull and enjoyable time.

Some of us would like this

Mavis Just seen your post about the Crow Road - I have it on DVD but haven't watched it all the way through yet

LaComtess · 17/07/2015 01:07

Keep finding more stuff to do. Wide awake though so I'm just going to plough on.

Also keep having random scrummages around house for holiday things as I think if them. Cannot remember where I've put the wetsuits. Usually in airing cupboard, where the fuck else could they possibly be??

For some reason the only thought that is occurring to me re: maves character query is, "santi would make a great zaphod beeblebrox."

Hmm Hmm Confused

MavisGrind · 17/07/2015 07:12

On top of the washing machine Comtess

Morning all. Well the fitbit seems to think I only slept for an hour which I know isn't right so I think I'm doing something wrong or it's mistaking me for Comtess Grin

Happy Friday and end of term everyone, I'm off out for wine and takeaway this evening and then as of tomorrow, I'm being healthy. Let's see what the fitbit makes of that!

FolknNorah · 17/07/2015 07:19

MMMMMOOOORRRRNNNNIIIINNNNGGGG FFFFFUUUUCCCCKKEEEERRRRSSSSZZZZ

Grin Brew

IT'S THE LAST DAY!!!!

Hope everyone had a good night and got some sleep ?
If you're off aaahhhhht today have a good day all of yous, if not, well have a good day all of yous as well. I'm doing a mixture of the two personally.

Will make a list of wench book recommendations and promptly forget to read any. Hmm

Latersz

FolknNorah · 17/07/2015 07:33

I'll be honest, I have no idea what most of you are on about. I read books like jane eyes etc at school, like wide Sargasso Sea so don't really remember much. Blush
I remember beloved that I liked. Not sure if that's the name of the book or the character. Shock am shockingly ill read I see even though I love reading?! How did that happen?
I quite like fantasy stuff as well which I don't think people have really mentioned. I don't have much though.

Oh yes, I quite liked Percy Jackson series and there's a series called wolf brother or something I liked.
Kids books though innit cos I don't buy for me I buy for them.

Oooh, I forgot, I'm getting my hair cut and (hopefull) coloured at the weekend.

morelikeguidelines · 17/07/2015 07:57

Morning all.

Plan for later is to watch santi as Vronsky after your recommendations. I hadn't realised the version he was in was not the keira knightly version and had been put off by that, as I find her annoying as an actress. (Nb I realise that sounds daft given that my username is from a kk film).

Now feel free to watch it anyway.

LetUsPrey · 17/07/2015 08:01

Morning wenches.

I like the Percy Jackson books too Norah.

I watched a ComicCon San Diego summary last night re upcoming films. Crimson Peak looks amazing and then Superman and Batman were fighting and I got a little over-excited Grin

Last day of term here too.

And it's Aramis Friday!

AnneOfAramis · 17/07/2015 08:06

'Well-read' is a bull shit concept. We all like different things.

I am sorry but, no. CAPTAIN war minister TREVILLE GETS TO BE ROCHESTER.

AnneOfAramis · 17/07/2015 08:08

Oh oh oh oh an Anna K Virgin.

What time are you watching Morelike?????? I feel a rewatch coming on. It is 3 hours in two parts. Are you going to do it in one go or split it??

morelikeguidelines · 17/07/2015 08:25

Hi Anne I am not sure as I promised dd she could watch tm this evening (bad parenting I know) and we are supposed to do the cleaning on a Friday eve. So it might be late. Would love to (re, in your case) watch with you though! Will update you if ok.

I will probably only managed to watch one episode though.

I am.definitely not well read by anyone's standards. I just happen to like the same books as alot of you!

Dd has got me reading her a history book about King John at bedtime which is an unusual choice for a child (it's called something like King John, the making of a tyrant). I have to scan ahead through every paragraph to check there is nothing unsuitable in it as I go! (don't know why I both as letting her watch tm....)

LetUsPrey · 17/07/2015 08:38

One of my favourite parts

Laterz wenches

morelikeguidelines · 17/07/2015 08:48

Ooh letus book fighting! Not quite as good as hat fighting imo, but certainly up there.

I love the background photo of santi in the vest.

MadamedeChevreuse · 17/07/2015 09:03

morelike watching tm with dd is an acceptable reason not to watch ak Grin What is your username about then? I had wondered, and I dont know the kk film you mentioned.

nora I love kids books too Grin since having ds young adult books are all Ive actually read

FancyFancy · 17/07/2015 09:05

Morning, what a lovely set of gifs to wake up to letus, thank you.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 17/07/2015 09:18

Madame I think it's from Pirates of the Caribbean?

Enormouse · 17/07/2015 09:25

Morning

Loving all the book talk. I agree well read is relative and subjective.

If you like fantasy try "fables, legends in exile", Norah. It's a graphic novel about fairy tale characters in a modern setting.

ali I had to read French lieutenants woman a few times before I liked it. The ending is a bit odd, what with the 3 alternate endings.

BloodyElkFire · 17/07/2015 09:35

We have important religious celebration today so Musketeer Friday might be scuppered here, but after fighty book Aramis I might throw the rule book out of the window and watch Ninon tonight and let the boys stay up. Keep me posted re: Anna K. 'Desired' - swoon and clean knickers.

Alibabsandthe40Musketeers · 17/07/2015 11:12

Norah I like fantasy too - infact it is the only thing I've managed to keep reading while the children have been small. Robert Jordan and Robin Hobb are my favourite authors. The genre has got very dark more recently which I'm not so keen on - I want escapism not descriptions of nasty torture and endless suffering, and I like my heroes and heroines to be, well heroic - not abusive arseholes.

Blob still not here so still feeling awful. FMPMT.

MiladyBeaWinter · 17/07/2015 11:48

Morning. It's packing up day today. Booo. Part of me is ready to go home but it's soooo relaxing here. Apart from DS who is currently twining at me Hmm about having to tidy up his lego.

Not read 84 Charing Cross. Will add to book list which is growing with wench recommendations. I stopped reading as much when DC younger and only really got back into it since they both started school. Don't consider myself well read either, especially on some of the classics . Did read Time Travellers Wife and sobbed at many parts. Def not for public reading.

I really like fantasy too. Just pure escapism. Liked the early Robert Jordon but it felt a bit cynical with the no of books and so I stopped at 5 or so. Loved David Eddings and Katherine Kurtz too.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/07/2015 12:11

FFS - done it again with long post and not hitting send...

Another vote for Robin Hobb. I went off fantasy for quite a while because it was all so bloody generic: Oh look, orphaned child (may not know it's orphaned) with sword (probably with magical properties) turns out to be the only one who can save the country/work/universe yada yada yada throw in assortment of dragons/elves/goblins/wise mentor-type figures.

And now, SchoolEvent is done; back to work on horrific database We don't break up until Tuesday... so I have a day's grace or so to get stuff done before I become the EvilMother who ignores her child whilst working and/or the KnackeredMother who works all night to actually get stuff done because she spent daytime trying to be GoodMother and interact with said child. FML etc.
