How do you complain about a fall in a public place?

My MIL had a bad fall yesterday on un-even pavement - she ended up having to go to hospital to have 5 stitches in her eyebrow, has a huge black eye and lots of cuts and bruises.

I know there are lots of these "compensation" companies about but didn't know if it should be dealt with differently due it being in a public place and due to un-even pavement.

Does anyone know anything about this?

If your MIL justs wants to complain she should write to the local council's highway department.

If she wants compensation, she should contact a solicitor.

AFAIK these compensation companies deal with public place accidents too. May be cheaper than a solicitor. I know there are some companies that don't charge you whether you win or not.
