... is there such a thing as a canon digital SLR that will take old 35mm SLR canon lenses? My dad hankers after a digital SLR but has old lenses he doesn't want to replace.

Yes there is. You can get a Canon FD to EF adaptor.

this page should help you out.

I'm selling mine btw in this thread if it is of interest. I too have an old 28 / 50 / 135 etc. lens from my days on an AE1-P but they've been pinched by my dad LOL.

Your camera sale is what made me think to ask you I knew as Gadget Boy you'd know the answer!

Thanks. I shall throw my dad into further torment by telling him it is possible to use his old lenses. He'll have to come up with another reason not to by an SLR now...

I've missed you Soupy, and I can't stay away from these damn camera threads either.

You need to tell him though that the old lenses won't autofocus just because they're on the new body (I'm sure he knows this), and that I don't think they'll stop down to the correct aperture unless manually 'dialled in' IYSWIM. (I suppose they might work in 'A' (auto) but I doubt it tbh.

He's better off taking the hit, selling them to a hobby shop, and splashing out on a new set of glass to last him the next 20 years. It's all cheaper in the States if he's the travelling type.
