Recommendations for villa holiday in 2005

Hoping to go abroad next year, staying in a villa. It will be me, dh, ds1 (will be 4), ds2(will be 2). We want to go with my brother, SIL and their daughter (will be 3).

Has anyone been on a villa holiday with young children? If so where and would you recommend it?

I'm keen on Italy, but lots of people have told me the Algarve is great for kids.

Lastly - I love the idea of having a villa with a pool, but worried about safety with three toddlers.

We can't afford to go away this year, so I want to get it right when we can.

Any recommendations, advice appreciated.

Hi, lucky you! We can't afford to go away atm.

We have done villas in the past, with little children (ds was 9 months and dd1 4 years the first time) and would really recommend it.

Simply Travel are great. They have lovely houses, from big to little, with or without pools and the organisation is pretty good, too. They should be able to tell you about safety aspects of individual properties. Not cheap, but worth it IMO.

Crete is really good for children, and so is Turkey.

Holiday Rentals

No specific recommendations but have rented a villa from this website and it's dead easy to use.

Thank you both for those websites.

www.holidayfrance.com is very good.

A note on safety, it is the law in france now that all pools must be gated so that you can lock them when small children are around. So if you want to be sure then France is good.

Meon Villas do quite a wide range and often do quite good discounts.
Had 2 weeks in Lanzagrote when dd was 5 months - but made the mistake of going for quite an isolated villa.
Would go for somewhere in a village next time around.
Have fun.
