Calling all shower experts..!

I think our shower's broken, but before I go out and spend on a new one, just wanted to check if anyone knows anything about them.

It's quite a basic on, just an on/off switch, a 3 level pressure dial and a 1-10 temperature dial. For the last 4 years it's always been on pressure 3 (1 is cold and 2 is useless), and the temperature has always been betweeen 6 and 7. The pressure's never been fabulous, just decent enough.

I had a shower Sunday morning, all fine, then dh had one straight after and it was cold on every number except right up on ten, but the higher he went, the lower the pressure, so at 10 it was, and still is, a trickle.

We live in a split level so the bedrooms and bathroom are below the "walk-in" level which is our kitchen and livingroom, also where the boiler is. The boiler is only a year old, so I don't think it's that. What do wise shower-experts say? Is it caput or could I do something with the boiler/water pressure or something?

TIA!

Is it an electric power shower or do you get the hot water from a combi boiler or hot water tank?

Bibiboo · 10/11/2006 08:55

it's electric but the red power light on the ceiling is still on

I know nothing about it but it sounds like the internal water heater thingy has gone. you probably can't hook it up to your own hot water as it only has one inlet pipe which would be cold water. Now whether the thing can be fixed or needs replacing - it may be worth ringing the manufacturer and asking how much to send somebody out. If it's pricey it's probably better to replace.

bibiboo my husband is an electrician and wants to know what kind of shower you have ,Does the water heat directly from the shower unit or does it come from the water mains ?

Bibiboo · 11/11/2006 15:47

I'm assuming it takes cold water from the mains and heats it up but I coud'nt say for certain. The rest of our hot water is fine from the taps etc.
