moving next Fri but haven't yet exchanged!

Horrible, horrible sit.! We'd planned to exchange a few weeks ago, then last week at the latest, then TODAY at the latest but still haven't so now got to wait till Tues or weds to do so yet removals booked already for Fri! trying to decide whether to start packing up this w/e but feeling v superstitious about it all!

Do you know what the hold up is? Also are solicitors aware that you have planned to move next Friday as they need to have all completion papers sorted out asap if it's going to happen. Are you in a chain?

One of the buyers is oversees so partner flying out for her signature - they're not in any hurry as not selling theirs (lucky things have a penthouse in canary wharf apparently!). Solicitors know our deadline but ours is leaving today so someone else take over tues, none of which helps! Thanks for your comments just sounding off really, dh (who's always v confident) is sure it's going to go ahead ok and next week too. I'm more a cautious pessimist so will try and keep my nerve.

If it is any consolation (and I guess it isn't) we managed to exchange and complete on the same day. Have to admit we didn't have to move in for another week or two...

wow, that's brave! Might end up that way for us too though. can't afford to juggle the 2 mortgages, lots of childcare etc so we'd have to move the same day.

ZolaPola, if that's the case then you need to make sure that the 'replacement' solicitor knows the situation so you must call him/her on Tuesday morning. It might not happen on Friday, so have you got a plan B? Exchange and completion on the same day is possible, but requires a lot of preparation in advance (I worked as a conveyancer before had dd and decided conveyancing was just tooooooo boring!). The only way you will achieve it is by phoning, phoning, phoning!!!
