O.K. The end, enough, slap me, he has ruined 11 months of my life, no more.
What i need help with is this, i am going to apply to be a nurse, i've been thinking about it for ages. I hate my current degree, the effects of single parent families in society is just not helping with my meths addiction.
You get a bursary for it, which is just perfect for my situation. What i need to know is if i apply for a completely different city, will and can they help me with accomodation?
I need to get out of my surburman hell of Stepford wives.

Good on you. Grab your life with both hands and transform it into what you want it to be.

Caribbeanqueen · 30/04/2004 12:46

Nice one FF, glad to see you are thinking positively and have ideas about how to start making your life great again. I can't offer any practical help with the nursing but good luck.

Not sure if it is the same situation everywhere but when I was a nurse and also my friend was too because we were working for the NHS they did help you with accomadation if you needed it. I was ok at the time but my friend ran into some trouble and they helped her get a little flat you will still pay rent but it is a lot lot cheaper. Also there is something about when you work for the NHS you can loan up to £30,000 for a deposit for a morgage. If you go onto the NHS web page i am sure you can find out they do have really good benefits when you work for them. They also pay child care costs if you need it whilst at work. Depends on age of kids etc. look on www.nhscareers.co.uk or .com ?
Hope some of this helps.

I have just looked into this myself but i wanted to go to college first to get my degrees but unfortunatly where i live they only do full time courses and i have no one to look after my son i could have done part time. What sort of a nurse do you want to be FF?

Janstar · 30/04/2004 12:55

By the way, some pubs near hospitals give a discout to NHS staff

Janstar · 30/04/2004 12:55

No, they don't give a disc out, but a discount.

katierocket · 30/04/2004 12:55

Thanks just been on the website they are sending out an application form. No details about accomodation though, i think it will be really difficult to move, i will try.
No idea about what type of nurse, probably learning difficulties.

Hi Fairyfly (was alerted to this by papillon thanks hun!) Am a nurse and work in Leadership Development. Many places could help with accomodation but will need to look into it for you. Email me as I think you are near/in Manchester and that is where I work and we could meet up.

fairyfly · 30/04/2004 19:09

Thanks Glitterfairy, will do

Hi FF, good for you. Nursing is what i hoe to get into eventually. Need to go back to college for a year first though before i can apply to uni.

I did used to have a book of uni's that did nursing. I will see if i can still find it. It's a couple of years old but i'm sure it did mention something about accomodation.

I'd go for it, even if you have to look for accomodation yourself. It's a great idea.

Good Luck

fairyfly · 30/04/2004 23:38

Thanks Nutty, i have the list of uni's would much prefer to work from a college of nursing though. I am concerned that accomodation is just for halls though, i think you have to find your own place with kids.
