hiya,
is it true that the access course this year can be done at north b.ham college? i spoke to someone at sut college last week and she was a bit unsure, tried to get some info today but to no avail, if it is then that would be great as i could WALK to college!

bump - hope you get on a course

Nutcracker · 29/04/2004 20:53

As far as i know, northb were already doing an access course but it was slightly different to the one sutc do.
I know alot of things have changed because of the merger (takeover if you ask the staff of nbc).

I did once ask about the access course at nbc and they definatly did a full timeone. Not sure about part time though.

Did you want to do the 2 evenings a week one ??

tiredemma · 29/04/2004 20:57

no, one full day a week, although if they do it at nbc i may do the two extended days over one year as travel to and from sutton was a big factor in only going once week, what with work and everything, i know that they do the health and arts and science one there but its the access to health careers one i want and the woman was a bit confused!
ill just phone nbc tomorrow and see if i can get any joy out of them.
god im a bit all over the place tonight, i had to go to dentist thsi morning and have fillings, now my mouth is killing me!

gothicmama- thanks! its my intention to get a job a bit more satisfying within the next 5 years!!

Right i've just looked on the sutc web site and it just says all access courses at suuton. I went on the web site for nbc but now it just redirects to suttons web site.

So you were going to do the extended day ??

Do you drive ??

tiredemma · 29/04/2004 21:07

nope, dont drive at the mo, i have lessons booked with bsm which dps parents got me for my b.day/xmas but im being a wimp and using every excuse possible not to learn ( im too scared!)
im not bothered about getting a bus, although when i move it will be a bit more difficult to get a bus from great barr to sutton, thats why i thought it would be easier to do one day a week (the day release one )but if its at nbc id consider two extended days and get it done in a year, cuz the travel dilema would be none existent.
sorry are u still awake after all that rambling??

It's hard to decide isn't it. I am s**t scared of learning to drive too, i keep putting it off.

I can ring nbc tommorow if you like ??

Don't you work late at night sometimes ??How do you get home if you don't drive.

The staff at sutcol can be useless. When i was trying to find out about the course last year, they told me they didn't do it part time at all.

tiredemma · 29/04/2004 21:58

hi mate, dont worry about ringing nbc, im off tomorrow so it will give me something to do, ill post on here what they say though.
when i work till 10pm ( on a weds) either dp or my dad comes to get me ( chauffers!) next door neighbour sits with boys if dp comes to get me but im hoping to give up the wed night soon.

staff at sutcol are pathetic, everytime i phone i get diff info off them, my solicitor is right by sutcol actually and i have to go there tomorrow so i might just go into the college and see what the score is.

good luck with the maisonette, i can see why you dont want to move from that area cuz the schools are probably the best by miles. dont think im being rude but i noticed that you said u wanted to get some new furniture if you did move, im selling my 3 piece, coffee table and tv cabinet in a few weeks ( when we move) its all in excellent condition (only 3 yrs old) settee and chairs wont fit in new living room hence selling them, it was just a thought as they are new looking and have been well looked after, cant bear the thought of it hanging around in the rain outside some second hand shop! dont want to offend you though- tell me to piss off if i have!

health and social care I hope to top up to a degree next year - what are you thinking about studying

tiredemma · 29/04/2004 22:12

i want to do an access course in health careers and hopefully go to UCE to do a degree in midwifery. my dp is being really supportive and is encouraging me to do it, im really looking forward to studying again, i left school in 1994 with pathetic gcse results so im glad that the access course can get me back into education. cant wait!

Emma - Thanks for the offer of the furniture, but it's more bedroom furniture that we'll be short of. Tv we have is on a stand and i brought my friends sofas of her not long ago. Thanks for asking though.
