You can e-mail me anytime Katymac... you know my details Not sure what help I can be mind.

JackieNo · 05/11/2006 14:50

What's the problem with the insulation?

Katymac · 06/11/2006 08:18

Well we have (I think?) 9 inch blockwork

I can either add an additional block wall with cavity insulation Or I can do wood or metal stud work with either plasterboard or insulated plasterboard

Or one builer suggested just putting insulated plasterboard straight onto the blockwork?

It's all a bit much for me

Ah, yes, I see what you mean! Can you ask a couple of different builders to quote for each of the options? Just so you can get an idea of the relative prices?

Katymac · 06/11/2006 13:01

That's what I will do

Katy I read a story in the paper last week about someone opening an outdoor nursery. Not really contected to your nursery I know but I thought you might find it interesting.

Katymac · 06/11/2006 13:10

I did see it.....I can't imagine doing my accounts or the childrens learning stories outside......but it must be nice for the children (if not the staff)

Saves on building costs, they have a mud shelter if it rains

Mumpbump · 06/11/2006 13:15

Hiya Katymac.

Wasn't sure whether your block work wall already has a cavit, but if so (and this is a bit of a long shot), you know how you can get a grant for cavity wall insulation for homes? Well, I wonder if you could get one for your nursery. It cost us about £300 to have a 3 bedroom detached house done. I guess it might only be available for private households rather than business premises, but I would have thought it worth asking your council...

Katymac · 06/11/2006 13:34

I've got a single skin atm

Whether I get a second skin or not is up for grabs & businesses are not eligible for that grant...but there are others
