right, so if I've got this straight:

Your mum had a lamp that you loved as a little girl.
You're trying to find out the name of this type of lamp (I guess so you can buy one).
It had the figure of a lady underneath
and it had oil dripping down its sides.

The 'lady figure' makes me think of Art Deco or Art Nouveau lamps like this or this , but I have no idea about the dripping oil - was it actual oil dripping or an effect on a glass shade or similar?

Was it an antique or modern, do you know?

Yes - some in the US here (scroll down), but they might ship to UK. Think I might have seen some in large garden centre gift shops.

MrsBadger · 01/11/2006 12:52

I think they're called Rain lamps - seem to be popular in the Far East.
Will keep looking to see if I can find anyone selling them in the UK - I think your best bet is likely to be Ebay...

JackieNo · 01/11/2006 12:53

Yes - agree, ebay probably your best bet.

tjgx · 01/11/2006 12:56

O THANX GUYS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO VERY MUCH WILL KEEP YOU POSTED GOING TO LOOK ON EBAY RIGHT NOW HAHAHAHAHAH XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

FawkesyFimbo · 01/11/2006 13:02

Perhaps you could try the "want it" section on Ebay.

DontBurnMeImJustATwiglett · 01/11/2006 13:04

that is possibly one of the ugliest things I have ever seen in my life

But as it takes all types to make a world contact this US company and see how much to ship over to UK .. shouldn't be too extortionate

DontBurnMeImJustATwiglett · 01/11/2006 13:08

and on ebay.com .. again just contact and see if they'll ship to uk

MrsBadger · 01/11/2006 13:11

Found a UK wholesaler in Dartford here (seems like you'd have to buy six (!) though), and another one in Liverpool here - might be worth getting in touch with either or both.

tjgx · 01/11/2006 14:22
