in a 3-storey 5-bedroom house? Would be really helpful to have a rough idea of costs -- house we're thinking of buying has no heating!

We're in London.

Hampshire £6,000 - 3 storey - 4 bed house

Ouch. Yes, I suppose I figured it would be around that amount. The real figure will probably be higher, since they will need to rip out a selection of naff gas heaters as well. Hmm. Time to stock up on woolly jumpers. Hope spring comes early...

HC, it looks v. much like it. Tricky trying to co-ordinate the selling and buying phases, though -- don't want to look to early in case can't sell own house, but don't want to leave it too late and end up with no home to go to! Fingers crossed it may all pan out.

5 Radiators and a combi boiler was £3000, took 3 days with one man doing it by himself. he was very tidy too (aside from the furniture having to be strewn everywhere of course!) Thats south manchester but we were covered by a grant

We have just had 2 quotes to install heating in a 4 bedroom house (but complex, stone walls, odd layout etc) £4000 and £10,000 - latter price was from British Gas.
