Well I haven't spoken to her in over 7 weeks. Dh has just had a call from her best friend telling him to get over there ASAP as she has been attacked at home by her neighbour (a female friend) and is shook up, waiting for the police to arrive. They are both in their 60's, drunk and brawling.

He went about half an hour ago, I know nothing more than she is very drunk.

What is going on with that woman?

Was DH not speaking with her either?

No, we hadn't heard a thing from her. Between us we called her 3 times asking to talk. On each occassion she hung up, saying she'll call us when she is ready.

When she is ready

Well, your DH is a very good man, thats all I can say.

northerner · 30/10/2006 22:26

I know.

I think she has an alcohopl problem. Dh remembers her having a Gin & Tonic before the school run as a kid. For as long as \i've known her she drinks every day, sometimes from the afternoon. And her personality changes after a drink.

|She is a person who has manic highs and major lows, and nothing in between.

Well it turns out she wasn't attacked - she attacked her friend. She lied to get sympathy from her 2 sons.

She is mad I'm sure. She called me a f**king bitch to my dh!

"She is a person who has manic highs and major lows, and nothing in between"

Does therein lie the story? Is she diagnosed bi-polar?

FoghornLeghorn · 31/10/2006 16:05

Oh gosh northerner. You MIL sounds lovely .

I didn't realise you hadn't spoken since the fall out with SIL.

What was your DH's reaction to her lies to get sympathy ?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 31/10/2006 18:50

bipolar

northerner · 01/11/2006 16:28

OMG. That sounds just like her. She often has days where she won't leave the flat or get dressed. She calls it 'having a decline'

Then she emerges, dressed to the nine's raring to go. She drinks alot, she get's aggressive etc etc.

What should I do? She would never admit this, and would not thank me for bringing this to her attention.

speak to your DH & BIL about it. You are right, it is best not coming from you!
