Make sure you use the mirrors when you should be.
My DH's cousin is a driving instructor and he says they know you're checking the mirrors as your eyes move (they can see them from the corner and your pupils moving IYSWIM)

Also remember to leave a good gap "wheels on road" between you and the car infront when stopped. (I passed my test, but got warned about leaving a good enough gap)

Just relax (yes I know, easier said than done) and do it, no point in being nervous, it won't help anything!

Pretend it's a lesson - try not to think of it as a 'test'. If you think you've done something wrong and will fail because of it, don't give up - it may not be as bad as you think

Don't do what my Mum did and have a brandy to calm her nerves!! (No I'm not joking..)

Good luck

Let us know how you got on

Relax!
I thought of my test as a lesson with a different instructor that was very quite!!
I passed first time
But that was 12 years ago I don't think I'd pass now though

fairydust · 30/10/2006 08:20

smoke 10 fags in 20 mins - passed with floying colours

Bach Rescue Remedy?

I ended up with beta blockers but you prob don;t have time for that now.

Deep calming breaths.

Good luck!

LoveMyGirls · 30/10/2006 08:23

stay calm, look for hazards, agree with checking mirrors, cant do it enough imo

good luck!!!!!!!!

prettymummified · 30/10/2006 08:26

oh just wanted to wish you good luck!!

threebob · 30/10/2006 08:36

Apparently eating a banana works.

BudaBeast · 30/10/2006 08:38

Oh yes - a banana would be good - contains trytophan (sp completely wrong!!) which has something to do with serotonin in the brain.

BudaBeast · 30/10/2006 08:39

BTW The BEST drivers passed on their THIRD attempt!!!! LOL

Yes - with beta blockers!

gigglinggoblin · 30/10/2006 08:42

dh swears by eating glucose tablets before any exam, something to do with calming down adrenalin.

only thing i nearly failed on was pulling out into moving traffic when parked, apparently you shouldnt have your indicator on as it intimidates other drivers. thankfully no one let me pull out, instructor said if they had it would have been immediate fail. my driving instructor never mentioned this to me so thought i woud pass it on.

good luck!

northerner · 30/10/2006 09:15

Am confused about the indicator thing now. I though you should indicate when moving off?

ive been taught to indicate when pulling out to let oother drivers know that you are doing so.

i did that in my last test and wasnt considered a fault.

gigglinggoblin · 30/10/2006 11:43

i was told you should only indicate when there is no oncoming traffic as if they see you indicating before you pull out they might think you are just going to set off and they will slow down, disrupting traffic flow. as i said, my instructor didnt mention it, the examiner told me so i didnt really get any more info. hope i havent horribly confused you!
