do your children visit habbo hotel?

I'm wondering if anyone else has children who visit this website? My dd loves it but I am really annoyed at her having to, essentially, pay to use it. When she first began visiting, I let her send a text for credits to buy things for her virtual room etc but then they vanished - and you can imagine the tears that went with the stuff. The text cost something like £3 which she paid with her pocket money. She's been playing there, occassionally, since but today I heard her on the phone in her bedroom giving out numbers. When I asked who she had called she told me about getting 'free credits' on habbo - only the number she had dialled was 0900 and they weren't able to recognise the code she had. So, more money and tears. I can't believe that they can get away with this and I can't believe that there is nothing I can do. I think that paying to use the internet it wrong!!

My two use it, but we buy credits online with the BT click option.

Not had any problems with losing credits or anything.

HTH.

There are so many free games, sites and activities on line no way would I pay for this. We did a frog thing but after so many days you had to pay, sorry but no!

My kids love the neopets site and its free. You can adopt a pet, and play loads of free games. I admit I have been hooked a bit as well off and on for awhile.

DS has discovered the pets on the prehstoric park site. They wander back and forward on the screen and you can feed them and play with them.

that's my point... we already pay to access the internet, I'm not going to pay to visit a site too. But, poor dd is having trouble with this concept .

My ds is often on habbo, but doesn't buy any credits. Is it possible to play on this site without 'buying' then?

DS knows that any games we have to pay for aren't allowed. again there are soooooo many free ones that it just isn't necessary to pay for them.

kiwibella · 30/10/2006 19:34

yes, you can visit the site without buying credits. I thought we had settled the dispute about paying and dd had been visiting for months... until the phone call yesterday.

But I totally agree, I won't be paying for her to play

Had a look at the habbo site, it is basicly online chat room with visual representaion, as with all chat rooms be very careful about what kids are chating about and what they are revealing.

I was going to have a nose but I thought I might get addicted, we could have a Mumsnet meeting room on therre .

I'd be very careful about what your child is viewing on there to be honest, I had a look there while I was doing some research into sites like those the other day and the general chat room was getting quite raunchy!

Be very careful, my dd was groomed on there.
