Weaning - what's the point exactly?

Because BabyDragon has eaten approximately 3 peas, 2 pieces of sweetcorn and an olive. She also briefly sucked a 1/4 slice of carrot and a small piece of fish.

It's all so &&&&ing pointless!

rant rant rant.

(I'm not worried abut her BTW which is why I've posted it in Other Subjects. I'm just bored with the whole charade and p-ed off and wanted to whinge/rant).

Erm ok, feeling better now?

throckenholt · 28/10/2006 18:21

my twins were not weaned until 6.5 months - I kept saying - I'll do it tomorrow ..

I hated it too.

MacdogOnElmStreet · 28/10/2006 18:21

SoupDragon · 28/10/2006 18:22

She'll be 9 months old next weekend FFS - she should have got to grips with it now!

Just don't bat me!

MwaHaHaMhamai · 28/10/2006 18:24

Have you got to grips with yours? I'm not being smart when I say that btw. I mean do any of us ever completly get to grips with eating?

MwaHaHaMhamai · 28/10/2006 18:28

That post sounds a bit knobbish but what I'm trying to say is I spent more time going grey worrying whether my kids were eating properly, they go in and out of stages, my ds will eat broccoli in his creche but not at home. My dd20 was the faddiest eater, wouldn't touch veg and she's now a vegetarian........am I making any sense?

Flamesparrow · 28/10/2006 18:30

I've been considering just breastfeeding until he is at school then he can do it. Mainly cause I can't be arsed though...

Flamesparrow · 28/10/2006 18:31

Have you tried mixing sand in with it...?

Or a burn it all to a coal like state?

MwaHaHaMhamai · 28/10/2006 18:31

Obviously not

CastsSpellsWitchySpells · 28/10/2006 18:33

Was wondering if that's just one meal or in total in 3 months .

DD ate at least (but not much more than) 2 butter beans (in tom sauce), a mouthful of egg, and 1 or 2 bites of potato farl, plus had a little suck on a piece of pineapple. You've made me feel better about it now!

SoupDragon · 28/10/2006 18:39

Oh yes, I eat fine.

I just want her to eat something and to eat regularly so that I know she's not hungry when she wakes up. I really expected her to have got the hang of it. And there's no enthusiasm with it at all which makes me think hat I just need to find that magic item that she'll wolf down. Unfortunately I suspect it's chocolate which she's not having.

Or floam (which she has and looks like some awful infestation of insect eggs when it comes out the other end)

I was sorely tempted to wrap the fish in a tissue today since I went back to find her eating one.

Sorry but I was laughing so hard, tears streaming down at this.....deifnately shows you ain't a first time mum, lol!
How old is the Babydragon btw? And I assume you do sort of do BLW?

SoupDragon · 29/10/2006 14:37

She's nearly 9 months old. I do whatever sort of weaning might work. Is there any kind other than babyled though? I do purees on a spoon, finger food in front of her and small titbits fed one at a time from my fingers. And "dipping into pelican bib for left overs" weaning and "hoovering up off the floor" weaning...

I'm a 3rd time mother

(and the floam was truly horrific. I looked and thought "WTF!!... oh, Floam." Took 3 nappies to clear through )
